Diageo Menstrie Archives

Jan 10, 2024

Diageo’s state-of-the-art facility in Menstrie, which houses modern office spaces, cutting-edge research laboratories and an extensive archive spanning the equivalent of 55 football pitches, recently underwent a significant upgrade to its air-handling units (AHUs) and ventilation systems.

This upgrade was crucial for preserving the historically important artefacts and documents stored in the archive. Diageo entrusted BMES with the full Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) services for this project.

BMES successfully completed the installation of air conditioning, ventilation, building management systems, Low Temperature Hot Water (LTHW) heating, plumbing and electrical services. The new AHUs and plant are specifically designed to regulate humidity levels throughout the building, ensuring the protection of the archive’s contents for years to come.

“Diageo is at the forefront of innovation and research in the drinks industry, and the archive is an important part of its legacy,” said Allan Logan, Contracts Director at BMES. “It was a pleasure to be part of such a vital project and to play a role in preserving the information and artefacts kept there.”

The 9-week project was completed on time, within budget and with minimal disruption to the building’s ongoing operations.
